Dr. Deepak Balani is a dentist, scientist, educator, and researcher with nearly two decades of clinical experience helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles. He is the Founder and Clinical Director of Athena Dental Group, where he provides comprehensive dental care with a special focus on dental implants, root canal therapy, cosmetic dentistry, emergency dentistry, and IV sedation dentistry.
What distinguishes Dr. Balani is his unique combination of advanced clinical training and academic research experience. He is among a small number of dentists who hold both a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree and a PhD, bringing an evidence-based, scientifically rigorous approach to patient care.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Balani serves as an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School and has held a faculty appointment at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where he has contributed to clinical education and scientific research.
Dr. Balani’s research has been published in some of the world’s most respected scientific journals, including Science, Nature, and the Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI). His academic work has focused on advancing the understanding of human disease and translating scientific discoveries into meaningful improvements in patient care.
